Objectives / description: 

Different profiles (i.e., relationships with the system) for people who will be performing evaluations; one single person may play one or more roles. They won't be necessarily translated to actual roles in the final implementation.

User roles

  • Evaluation expert

    Expert whose main task is to evaluate an interface (developed by another team or organization) and create some kind of report.

    • Usability expert
      High / Focal role

      Their main task is assessing about the usability of user interfaces: web pages, desktop/mobile apps, etc.; could be as a member of the development team, or as an independent consultant. They will produce a report with a series of issues and recommendations.

    • Accessibility expert
      Average priority

      Their purpose is to evaluate an interface to check whether it follows some common principles to make it accessible to users with disabilities. Besides those principles, the experts may use other tools that run automatically or semi-automatically.

  • Frontend developer (occasional evaluator)
    High / Focal role

    Developers of interfaces using technical platforms composed by programming languages, frameworks, editors, libraries, etc. As a secondary task, they may want to perform some basic usability/accessibility check.

  • Designer (explorer)
    Average priority

    They create the visual layout of the interface from user requirements, keeping usability (and possibly accessibility) issues in mind while creating them; those layouts will be implemented later by developers. Instead of performing evaluations, they would benefit from having a way to search for good practices about some particular topic.
